This Kitten Was Seconds Away From A Horrible Death, But Then A Hero Saved The Day

Tony Miranda is in charge of sorting through thousands of cans, bottles, and bits of paper in a recycling center. He’s seen some odd items come down his conveyor belt, but he was shocked one day when he spotted a pink-nosed kitten among the debris heading into the compactor. He quickly scooped the tiny kitten out of the trash. The poor thing was seconds away from being crushed to death.

But after enduring that horrible ordeal, the kitty received the best holiday gift of all — a loving home!

It’s a good thing Miranda was so attentive on the job that day. If he hadn’t been so vigilant, this kitten’s story would’ve had a heartbreaking ending.

A Tiny Orangutan Was Locked In A Cell… But Not For Long.

This is by far the best 2 minute video you’ll see all day. A farmer in Borneo found a baby orangutan and decided to raise her as a pet. However, she was mistreated, locked in a small cell, and given only rice and tofu. She suffered from severe malnutrition, since orangutans eat fruit, flowers, honey, bark, leaves and insects.

Luckily workers from International Animal Rescue discovered her plight. What happens next is truly heartwarming.

There’s not a dry eye here at the office after seeing her finally working to live in the wild. It truly shows the effect that relief organizations like the International Animal Rescue can have. If you’d like to help this orangutan, or others like her, please consider adopting one of them here.

While Looking For Survivors After A Mudslide, They Saw Something Heartbreaking

Disaster struck in Brazil last Thursday when two mining dams collapsed, unleashing gallons of mud into the small town of Bento Rodrigues. Several townspeople are dead and even more are missing, but as rescuers quickly learned, humans weren’t the only ones devastated by the disaster.

While looking for survivors, firefighters came across a dog that somehow managed to live after being washed away by the mudslide, only to get stuck up to her chest in thick sludge. Fortunately for the brave pup, help was on its way.

As you can see, the damage is horrific.

The entire town is covered in layers of thick mud, and at this point, the prospect of finding survivors looks grim.

But one day, just as they were about to give up hope, rescuers came across a strong little survivor who was in need of saving.

The stranded dog had clearly been swept away by the unforgiving mudslide, but somehow, she pulled through. All she needed was a helping hand.

She was weak, so her new buddy carried her away from the scene so that she could be cleaned up.

And this pup isn’t the only survivor. Hundreds of animals have been rescued from this nightmare, and they’re being cared for by generous volunteers from the Animal Rights Defense Institute.

Even in the face of so much heartbreak, these rescuers provide survivors with something invaluable: the opportunity to reunite with their faithful friends.

Reunions like this wouldn’t be possible without their tireless efforts. “One thing is certain,” one volunteer writes. “We at ARDI, along with the help of dedicated veterinarians, will continue to stand by these animals.”

Anyone who shares their life with a pet knows that they quickly become family. In times of crisis, it’s critical that volunteers and rescue workers keep their eyes peeled for four-legged friends who are in dire need of help. Not only does it make a difference in the animals’ lives, but it also leaves a lasting impact on the humans who love them.

This Rescue Perfectly Demonstrates The Importance Of Respecting The Wild

Animals in nature are truly spectacular things to witness. The wild is where they belong and where they thrive.

Unfortunately, that freedom is stolen from far too many wild animals.

That’s just what happened to these two bear cubs just outside of Moscow. They were likely bought illegally and kept as pets, and as if that wasn’t bad enough, they were then abandoned in the woods when they became too big for their owners to care for.

The authorities were alerted when local residents saw the bears still wearing the collars given to them by their previous owners. Found dehydrated and highly unprepared for life in the wild, the scene could have ended tragically had this team of officers not rescued them just in time.

While these bear cubs could be saved, there are still countless other animals lost to captive living every year.

If you would like to do your part to help end this heartbreaking practice, you can visit the Captive Animal Protection Society for more information.

Giant Pandas Are No Longer Considered Endangered, So Not Everything Sucks!

If “life is terrible and everything hurts” is something that often comes out of your face, we have good news for you!

News about anything that isn’t psychologically damaging is hard to come by these days, but monitoring agencies have officially declared that the giant panda is no longer endangered, since numbers are rising in the wild. See? Life doesn’t have to be the worst!

googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display(‘VN_PG_DCBP_ATF’); });

According to IUCN Red List, the giant panda has gone from being listed as endangered to being listed as vulnerable. I mean, aren’t we all?

googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display(‘VN_PG_DCBM_BTF’); });

Because of forest protection and reforestation, the number of giant pandas in the wild has increased.

As it turns out, the Chinese government actually pulled through in the “save this inexplicably cute species from extinction, thank you so much” department.

Needless to say, society at large is pretty freakin’ pumped about it.

googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display(‘VN_PG_DCI1_BTF’); });

While some argue that it’s too early to remove them from the list, the World Wildlife Fund says, in fewer words, that we should all get our FULL LIFE to the fact that these little bundles of joy are doing better! Basic motor skills might not be their jam, but who even cares?

That being said, I feel that it is my responsibility as Debbie Downer in Chief to inform you that climate change could wipe out 35 percent of the giant panda’s food supply over the next 80 years.

Anyway, back to the happiness. Congrats, pandas, on being great! You might be bumbling messes, but that’s okay. We love you for it.

For more information on a few other animals that are sashaying away from extinction, check out IUCN Red List’s full report here.

Ducklings Stuck Down A Storm Drain Get Rescued As Their Concerned Mom Looks On

A team of firefighters in Auckland, New Zealand, banded together to help a distraught mother duck after her ducklings fell down a storm drain. The team of heroes formed an assembly line to pull the tiny babies out while the notably anxious mom duck watched.

The moment the chirping cuties are reunited with their mother is one that will put a huge smile on your face.

I’m so glad someone took the time to get a closer look at that drain once they heard the quacks coming from it. It’s people like these fine firefighters that make the world a better place. I’m sure this momma duck will be forever grateful for their kindness.

Man Is Given A Free Puppy, Soon Realizes It Is Something Else

When a young man in Tuscon, Arizona saw a ”free puppy’ sign on a house, he knocked on the door, and immediately fell in love with an amber eyed puppy he found. But soon after the man took Neon the dog home, he started to get a strange feeling about the pooch – like he wasn’t what he seemed.

Show Full Text

”You know that isn’t a dog, right?” this is what the owner heard when Neon was taken to the Wolf Connection shelter. This was right after Neon’s behaviour became too much to bear. Neon would dig out or jump the fence to play with the neighbors’ dogs, and would always find ways to escape. The pooch wasn’t interested in treats (very unusual for a dog), or interacting with humans (apart from his owner). The only thing he seemed to care about was other dogs and finding his pack.

And that’s a typical wolf behaviour – Neon turned out to be what’s considered a “high content” wolf dog. The pooch not only had the physical markings of a wolf — amber eyes and coarse coat, he also displayed behavior of a wolf who is simply not adapted to live the life of a domesticated dog. The owner realized that and gracefully agreed for Neon to be taken to a special wolf dog sanctuary, where he found happiness and the pack he longed for!

He befriended the alpha female wolf dog Maya and is enjoying howling with the other wolves. The importance of finding your tribe…
